‘Light, Shadow, Life’ to go to Tatarstan

Iranian documentary ‘Light, Shadow, Life’ has been selected to vie at the13th Kazan International Festival of Muslim Cinema (MFMK) in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia.

The Iranian documentary will compete at the main contest of the festival, which is slated for September 5-11, 2017, in Kazan, the capital of the Republic of Tatarstan.

‘Light, Shadow, Life’ is about the life of a young man with an intellectual disability who lives with his artist father.

MFMK, will screen ‘Light, Shadow, Life’ directed by Shahriar Pourseyyedian in a program titled ‘Iranian Cinema’.

Pourseyyedian’s work along with the other contenders of this edition has been selected from a total of 782 entries from 61 countries.

The previous edition of the event was opened by Iranian film director Majid Majidi's 'Muhammad: the Messenger of God'.

Launched in 2005, MFMK is one of the largest film forums held annually in Kazan.

The concept of the festival is reflected through its official motto ‘Through dialogue of cultures to the culture of dialogue’.

The festival has focused on films supporting the ideas of peace-building, tolerance and humanity and promoting intercultural dialogue.

The Republic of Tatarstan is a federal subject of the Russian Federation, located in the Volga Federal District.
